39th District State Senator Val Stevens (R-Arlington), called the burning of her campaign signs “senseless vandalism which has no place in the political process.” Stevens, who is running for her fourth term in the State Senate, lives in Arlington with her husband, Keith.

It was Keith Stevens who filed a malicious mischief complaint with the Skagit Valley Sheriff’s Department about the sign burning. The vandalism occurred to signs in southern Skagit County in the area of Old Pacific Highway near County Line Road according to the Senator’s husband.

Senator Stevens said, “Sometimes kids will knock over campaign signs especially as it gets closer to Halloween. But in this case, my signs have been deliberately set on fire.” She added, “This appears to be specifically directed at me because signs of other candidates in the same vicinity are being left alone.” She released photos of several of her signs which have been burned.

Stevens called destruction of these signs, “not only vandalism but an infringement on the right of political free speech as well.” She said, “Campaign signs help voters become more aware of the political process so they can make more intelligent choices when marking their ballots.” She continued, “By burning my signs, those responsible for this vandalism are not only hurting my campaign, they are attacking the integrity of the election process itself.”

More in the ongoing saga of corruption in the Democrat ranks.
Remember two years ago when Rep. Deb Eddy (D-Kirkland) stole about 300 yard signs and the cops found them all in her garage and car? It was on King 5 news. What did the Democrats do about her crimes? Nothing.
What about the young Democrat hacks who stole several hundred signs from Republican candidate Donna Watts in the 47th District?
I think the prosecution is still going on, and the kids are lawyered up with pro-bono attorneys paid for by the Democrats.
The Democrat party, from top to bottom is corrupt and out of control.
Someone should put up a camera on some of these signs and catch the bad guys. Who knows, it may be Fred Walser or some of his homies he met in prison?
(a joke, of course. he avoided jail with a plea and 240 hours of community service)
By the way, among all the stories of corruption and unethical behavior, here is a blog post> about Republican leadership from a former GOP staffer.
From Jerry Cornfield's blog in the Herald
I worked for the KCGOP in 2004 and a lot of volunteers were disappointed with the small number of Bush-Cheney signs alloted for King County. So we put together a big bulk order of our own and a group of families on Mercer Island who were upset about the number of Kerry signs scrounged together a $1,000 so we could get them an extra 1,000 signs. When they finally came in, they put half of them up that same day. The next day most were gone. So they put up more and staked out a main thoroughfare, complete with a camcorder. I don't think they were there more than an hour before the democrats showed up taking down the signs. It got on drudge and producers from Good Morning America wanted to put them on. But the families were modest about it. They just wanted to put up signs for their guy and have their voices heard like everyone else!
The best way to deal with our tolerant liberal friends is to catch them in the act of being their tolerant selves. :)
